November Dinner

10th November 2011

Gerard Brophy

Two 4 One Treat at The Fylde Coast Cricket Society

The FCCS was very well entertained at the first monthly dinner by Gerard Brophy of Yorkshire Cricket Club and his Benefit Year Chairman Dave Callaghan (BBC cricket reporter). Gerard who was born in South Africa has played for Yorkshire CC for the last five seasons and was awarded a Benefit Year for his dedicated service to the club. The duo outlined the game of cricket as it is today and the cricketers they have met at National and International level.

Dave who was in the roll of Interviewer, extracted many amusing cricket stories from Gerard which were well received and appreciated by the FCCS members. Being a first class wicketkeeper Gerard had many a story to tell of his experiences behind the stumps which he had encounted in his career. Obviously he was disappointed that Yorkshire had dropped a division this year, but has high hopes of a return to the top division as he feels Yorkshire have a very formidable side for the coming season.

The FCCS wishes him a very good Benefit Year, and thanks both of them for a wonderful evening.
