November Dinner
19th November 2009
John Stanworth
From Player To Coach To Academy Director
Our season of dinners commenced last night with 52 members and friends enjoying a wonderful meal followed by a very informative talk by John Stanworth, the Lancashire County Cricket Academy Director.
Marred only by a three minute black-out when the lights and sound failed, John quickly got into step and gave us a most interesting insight into his illustrious career at Old Trafford. He talked about coaching a fifteen year old Flintoff and signing a young lad from Burnley by the name of Jimmy Anderson. The excitement, the soul searching on selection problems and the privileges of being attached to a great club like Lancashire were all mentioned with great clarity and humour.
The talk had been so interesting that the Chairman had to call a time limit on the many questions which came at the end of the session.
A great night.
The Society would like to express their thanks to John for coming and providing a great evenings entertainment.
