Another Season Completed
Well, that's it then, the end of a very interesting winter season and the start of what we all hope will be a season of sunshine and endless cricket.
We seem to have been dogged by bad luck this year with cancellations and of course the sad death of our host for many years, Pat Mancini. With regard to the cancellations, which I believe have all been made for very good reasons, our Speaker Secretary, Mike, has really turned up trumps and we have been entertained by a variety of witty and knowledgeable people and our thanks go out to him for this.
Denise, our untiring Secretary, has as usual kept us all informed of dates and speakers and worked tirelessly collecting our hard earned subs and dinner fees. Martin has looked after the cash and Nev the publicity and our thanks go out to them all. Last but not least our thanks go to Kerry for all the table place settings and her work on the raffle along with Emily and Margaret. The raffle goes a long way to keeping us afloat.
With regard to the recent sale of the Queens, we believe that at the moment our situation will remain the same, so lets keep hoping. Martin informs me that we are still in a position to operate but we desperately need new members to swell our coffers so please, please, please talk to your friends in fact talk to anyone that will listen and let's do some recruiting. I am sure you will agree that winter would be much more of a bore without these monthly meetings.
Finally thank you all for your attendance this season and for putting up with my gaffes. I wasn't too sure I could fill those large boots of David but I have been made to feel very welcome.
Good luck to you and your clubs and I hope you all have a successful season watching the game we all love so much.
See you all at the AGM.

Our Society's Future Under Threat
The long term future of the Fylde Coast Cricket Society is once again under threat as the available funds dwindle. The Society has absorbed many of the increased costs over the past few years to keep prices the same for the members. This year the Committee has been forced to pass on increased dinner prices to both members and non-members but has decided to keep the membership to £5 per annum. The Committee is also looking for sponsors and advertisors for the website. Other measures such as e-mail dinner invitations are also being considered.
All members are being asked to bring a guest to the Society dinners who will be able to pay only the member price for one dinner.
