THE INAUGURAL CAPTAIN OF ZIMBABWE
Last night we had the pleasure of listening to David Houghton, Zimbabwe's very first test captain, recall memories of life in Zimbabwe before and during the presidency of the notorious Mugabe and of how sport played a big part in education. He went on to describe a very varied but interesting career in the game and how life in Zimbabwe is changing for the better in recent months. We would like to express our thanks to David for a very interesting talk.
This was our final dinner of the season and the Chairman wished everyone a great summer. We were also lifted by the announcement that our first speaker of next season will be non other than the English bowling legend Derek Underwood. Watch this space.
